If you use the medium of satellite radio for advertising correctly, it can be incredibly effective and profitable. The key point of that statement is “if you use it correctly”. Simply delivering a message without much rhyme or reason for how the message is presented could be a costly mistake.

Let’s take a look at some ways to make a commercial radio that intends to broadcast on satellite radio more effective. These are in no way a “guarantee” of results, ultimately that is up to the consumer who chooses to have an interest in your product or service. These are some time-tested tactics that we’ve seen work and countless others have worked when used in conjunction with a product or service that’s in-demand at the time.

  • Make an offer that no one can refuse. Make it good enough to attract people who may not have a pressing need for the product or service. This usually involves giving something away for free. You have to give to receive, right? Giving something of value to a potential customer could pay off in return for business. Remember that “information” can be valuable here, so a decent eBook or something of the sort may suffice.
  • Repeat contact information to the point where it sounds silly. When you “review” your commercial for the 14th time, you’re probably thinking “do we really need to have the phone number in there? The answer is YES. If you want people to call you, they need to get the number.” to do that, that means putting it there a minimum of 3 times, and a maximum of… well… how many times can you put it there while still sending your message.
  • Make sure you’re on the stations your customers are listening to. If you’re looking for a 35-year-old woman, chances are, spreading her message on a conservative talk station isn’t the most effective approach. Just because a station has “the most” listeners doesn’t mean they will be the most specific to your product or service. Look at the type of person listening to a station, not the total number.

Now that you know the basics of satellite radio advertising, you’ve got some extra ammunition to make your campaign great!
