With a great regular season already in the bag and a playoff spot sealed as the best team in the NFC South, the New Orleans Saints now have a chance to truly prove they are the best football team in the NFL. If you’re a Saints fan like I am, then you’re totally looking forward to seeing what Drew Brees and the rest of the Saints will do in the playoffs.

With the Saints losing their last two games, it’s a cause for concern. The game they lost to the Dallas Cowboys was not as heartbreaking an event as their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was, especially considering the fact that the Buccaneers were 2-12 going into that game. This definitely makes one wonder if the Saints have a chance against the stiff competition they will face in the playoffs.

The Saints’ next game will be against the Carolina Panthers on January 17. I think the outcome of this game will shed some light on where the team will go in the postseason. If they lose this game, it will be three in a row that they have lost, which would NOT be good. Even though they’ll make the playoffs either way, it won’t do team morale much good. I myself am a big believer in momentum that takes a team further than they normally would go without it in the postseason, and another Saints loss would completely kill their momentum heading into the playoffs. Let’s just hope that’s not the case for the Saints and they can get over this little bump they’ve encountered over the past few weeks. Otherwise, everyone’s hopes of seeing them take on the Colts in the Super Bowl could be dashed, and that would really be a sham…
