Every time our family plans a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, it’s like the night before Christmas in the whole house. We usually start packing like the old Baltimore football team, the Colts. Under the cover of darkness, we loaded the vehicle with fishing gear, coolers, luggage, some snacks, and lemonade.

We also have our favorite places to dine, and of course, no trip is complete without a stop to watch the fireworks. Our son will need fireworks from at least two different vendors along I-95 South. Not the kind that sits on the ground and burns up like a matchbox, but the kind that soars into the sky and lights up our summer nights like the Cape Canaveral space shuttle.
I’m willing to put up with the shoe shopping, fireworks, and half a dozen other stops that make up our 10-hour hike because at the end of the day we’ll finally arrive at one of my favorite vacation spots on the entire East Coast. , The amazing Myrtle Beach.
The best way to start a day in Myrtle Beach is with a sunrise drive along the Atlantic shoreline. Myrtle Beach is divided into two areas, North Myrtle Beach and South Myrtle Beach, and there is plenty of adventure on both sides.
Did I say south side? Well, the south side is the older side of Myrtle Beach, but new development is always happening. One of the biggest attractions on the South Side was the Pavilion amusement park, which held its final season in 2006, but all is not lost. Some of the popular attractions and artifacts are now part of The Pavilion Nostalgia Park. Nostalgia Park is located at Broadway at the Beach, which opened in the spring of 2007.
The Herschell-Spillman Carousel, Tea Cup Kiddy Ride, and The Caterpillar Ride are all very much alive at the new Nostalgia Park.
If you need more adventure, try the Family Kingdom water park.
They are located at 300 South Ocean Blvd. Family Kingdom also has an amusement park. Stop in at the ice cream parlor and buy a scoop or two like the locals, or visit the largest yard sale in South Carolina from 7 am to 12 noon on September 15, 2007. It will be held in the parking lot of the Myrtle Beach Pavilion.
Three levels of cutting offers. Go early to take advantage of the best deals. You’ll find just about everything you need for the beach, including sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen. You’ll even find items like suitcases, bags, dollar items, and things for the home.
For shopping at the mall, check out The Coastal Grand. This mall opened in March 2004. This is the newest mall in Myrtle Beach. They have a great food court with lots of entertainment. There’s nothing like shopping at a mall, you could almost live there if you love shopping as much as we do.
