Unfortunately, being bored is one of those things that can happen to all of us. A friend cancels a meeting you had planned earlier in the week and suddenly we find ourselves in a bind with nothing to do and boredom has a chance to rear its ugly head. If you find yourself in this situation, perhaps the following list of things to do when bored can come into play and help you.

The three ideas below may come in handy if you’re stuck indoors:

– Try to unleash your inner artist by sketching a self-portrait with paints or a pencil and a nearby mirror. Why not try to put together three completely different portraits? First of all, a fun way to start is to try to complete the image using only a single continuous line, this also helps you to relax. Perhaps the next image can be done with a black and white charcoal and the third method with colored crayons or paint.

– Playing arcade games online for free can often be a good cure for boredom. You will find that the Internet is teeming and packed with many varied styles of enjoyable and fun games that players can quickly get involved with. How about trying out racing cars, or maybe dirt-based off-road bikes, defense-style quiz games, puzzles designed for escape, interactive dress-up games, and much more? All you need to do is start searching on Google.

– How about trying to learn how to do two cool new break dance moves? Break dancing is not only cool, but it has the advantage of making a lasting impression on those who see it, so it would be wise to use some of the time you have to try out a few tricks. A good place to start would be to search YouTube for break dancing moves.

If it’s not to get wet and you can get out, these ideas can help:

– Try to build your own kite to fly. Kite making, believe it or not, is a skill adopted by our ancestors some three thousand years ago and more, kite flying is currently enjoying a renaissance. Building and creating your own kite costs next to nothing, use some of the free video providers online to look up an easy beginners guide to kite building and you’ll see what I mean.

– Make your own mini volcano! It’s not as difficult as it sounds, all you need is a one-liter bottle of Diet Coke (full), a sheet or two of heavy paper or cardstock, as well as five of those popular Mentos mints. First things first, simply undo the Coke bottle, then place a small square cut out of paper or card over the bottle’s actual opening in the neck. After this, you will need to build a way to charge the mints. The best way to do this is to roll a tube out of a piece of paper (or card), to a diameter slightly larger than the actual diameter of the mints. Once completed, this loading system will be placed on the square paper that should be on the neck of the Coca-Cola bottle. Almost there now, all you need to do is place all the mints in the tube to set up the volcano explosion! To get started, you’ll need to quickly pull the square paper out from under the mint tube, which in turn will allow the mints to cut into the Coke bottle. Next, you’ll need to run, as very quickly you’ll have a cool Coke volcano and something amazing in your own backyard.

– The latest idea to help eliminate boredom is to try modifying your push bike into a loud and fun motorcycle! This is simple and effective and all you need to do this is find a stiff type card after which you cut it into a rectangle shape, it doesn’t need to be too neat. This cut card should be long enough to reach from the rear forks of the bike to the actual spokes. Then attach it to the bobby pins with a dowel and some duct tape. With the bike upside down, test the mount by turning the bike wheel and adjust to try and get the best bike sound. Get on the bike and take it for a spin!
