If a group of cockroaches decide to come live under your roof, they do so for a very good reason. And you probably already know what that reason is; food. The only thing a cockroach fears more than the sole of your shoe is a lack of food and water. Therefore, it is good to know what they eat if you want to get rid of roaches.

A cockroach is not picky, unless it is where it wants to live. The nasty ones carefully choose a house with lots of food and water. If it’s yours, you know what to do. A: get rid of roaches. B: make sure they never come back.

Getting rid of roaches is not that easy. But once you have won the fight, the battle is not over. Then it’s about getting rid of all the things that roaches love. Therefore, it is important to know what they eat, what they drink, and where they are most likely to find it.

Let’s start with the bad news. Roaches eat anything. Soap, paper, clothes, goals, your favorite book, wood, human hair and nail clippings, leather, feces, fabrics and even the glue on the back of wallpaper and stamps. And if necessary, they will eat each other. They are classified as omnivores, which means that they eat whatever type of organic food source they can find. Like I said: cockroaches are not picky. .

Cockroaches are nocturnal by nature, preferring to hide in a dark place during daylight hours and forage for food at night. There is a peculiar exception to this rule. The oriental cockroach seems to be attracted to light.

Roaches locate food and then communicate with other roaches in the community by leaving chemical traces in their feces. Other roaches will follow these trails to locate food sources or other roaches. This is why a cockroach never seems to come alone.

The roaches’ favorite place? Your kitchen. All you need to do is make a sandwich and not clean the counter afterwards. A trivial oversight and you have inadvertently spread a delicious cockroach buffet in your home.

Once you’ve gotten rid of roaches, you need to take simple precautions: Store all (all!) Foods in plastic containers that can be hermetically sealed. Open water also breeds cockroaches. A single drop of water will attract roaches, so be sure to clean your sink and counter before bed. Not just today, but make it a habit. There is always a roach looking for food. And the disgusting never comes alone.
