If you’re not in the homebuilding space, you probably haven’t heard of 2020 Spaces. They are the leading home building software and your contractor will most likely use them when, say, you decide to remodel your kitchen.

But if you’re a construction company and user of 2020 Spaces and want to integrate it with your accounting application, like QuickBooks, read on!

2020 Spaces comes with support for the “Invoice” integration with QuickBooks. While this would work for most construction companies, it creates a niche for others. To understand the problem, let’s discuss the business process integration for the Order-to-Cash process in this space.

In any construction or custom business, you start with an Estimate or Quote. Once a quote is created, you would create a Sales Order, thus searching stock within your warehouse if you have one, and if you don’t, then you would create a Purchase Order from your Order and send it to your supplier. favorite. Once the item is received, you will create an Invoice for your Supplier and at the same time create a packing slip for your Order and create the invoice for your Order (for both Received and Shipped Items).

If you noticed earlier that there are a number of steps that are required to activate the purchase order and shipment before the invoice is sent. ? So how do we fix it?

2020 Spaces only supports invoices (as of publishing this article), I’d take it with what you have. You could then use the DBSync CloudWorkflow Engine to query all the newly created invoices (perhaps using a tag within the generated 2020 Spaces invoice) to read it and create a sales order that mimics the invoice and its line item. Now while you’re at it, you’ll be able to link the invoice to the order just by number or a custom field. Traceability between order and invoice from QuickBooks is likely to be lost, but you can always match it using the number or custom fields.

What do you win?

  1. You will be able to create purchase orders from Sales order and keep track of inventory and items.
  2. You will be able to create packing slips and other functionality outside of the sales order process
  3. You can selectively create invoices from the sales order for shipped items and get paid faster

I hope this clean and easy use case of DBSync CloudWorkflow can make life a lot easier for build ops folks.
