Crystal therapy, also known as crystal healing, is an alternative healing technique in which stones and crystals are used. The healing expert or practitioner will place these stones or crystals on certain parts of the body. These parts are believed to correspond to your chakras. The healing expert can also place these crystals around the body to build or create a grid or network of energy. This energy web is believed to surround or cover the patient with healing energy.

Crystal healing practitioners believe that when these stones are placed on the chakra part of the body, a stone color is chosen that matches the color that particular chakra is believed to be. To try to ground the patient, stones are usually placed around or on the feet or held in both hands. At other times, the healing expert will use crystal wands that will be placed around the body of the patient or recipient. These crystal wands can also be placed near the chakra that is believed to be blocked.

Crystal therapy has been practiced by different cultures for many centuries. Among the people who have been using this alternative healing treatment are the Hopi, who are Native Americans from Arizona, and the Hawaiian Islanders. The Chinese in particular traditionally believe in the healing powers of microcrystalline jade. Other Eastern cultures strongly believe that the emerald has memory-strengthening attributes that help increase intelligence.

Crystal therapy is known to balance the body physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It is known to lift your spirits when you are feeling down and calm your nerves when you are feeling agitated or worried. Generally, crystal therapy acts as a stabilizer of the entire system. The most common known stones generally include the following:

• Amethyst
• Pink quartz
• Transparent quartz

Most stones used in crystal therapy contain lithium and are found to be the most beneficial.

Some of the stones used in lithium-containing crystal therapy are discussed below:

• Tourmaline – this contains one to one and a half percent lithium. It is known to conduct electricity through stretch marks and can be very effective when finished naturally.

• Lepidolite: Contains 3-5% and is known to reduce stress and balance emotions.

• Lepidolite with pink tourmaline – this contains 1 to 5% lithium, it has combined properties of lepidolite and tourmaline.
