Few things are funnier than a crowded house and a tiny bathroom. The room becomes a virtual turnstile, with someone always entering or leaving. Unlike a turnstile where foot traffic brings all your items through the doors, a bathroom is a place where you would hope (hope?) to leave some belongings for convenience. But what if not one or two, but six or more people have that same desire? Things can get pretty chaotic and fast.

Help prevent bathroom fights with the help of some good cabinet organizers. Although most people don’t realize it, bathroom cabinets actually hold a fair amount of storage space. The key is to look at the vertical space and figure out how to make use of it.

The first thing to do may be to install a storage unit over the toilet. While they are not deep and therefore cannot hold a large number of towels, sometimes all you need is a set of emergency bath, hand and wash towels. This is also a good place to store extra toilet paper.

With those necessities out of the way, the cabinet itself can be turned into mini lockers for everyone in the house. I found that wire mesh drawer slides (the size of cabinets) are a perfect solution for cosmetics. Every woman in the home can have her own tray, easily accessible with a simple pull.

Discard or sell multiple hair dryers or require drying and styling to take place in personal rooms. Use another set of cabinet organizers for personal beauty items like lotions, hair products, mouthwash, etc. If you’re lucky enough that everyone likes the same brands, then it’s as simple as everyone getting used to returning what they used to the basket. You may want to keep a shopping list in a central location to avoid accidentally running out of a staple item.
