With the explosive hypergrowth of the Internet, information that used to take days and weeks to reach people researching businesses takes seconds. If the MLM company changes their compensation plan or there is some slander (true or false), the masses will have access to that information simply by stumbling across a website.
Why prospects never start
This is why a large percentage of potential new reps never get started, see a negative article or website that most of the time isn’t true and have either lost them, or will have to explain why the claims are false and it’s just part of the natural order of things in our industry, true, but the new person coming from a typical 9-5 environment will be easily discouraged.
Friend or foe of the Internet?
I’ve seen top leaders jump ship from other MLM companies and videos are posted all over YouTube, people see this and companies suffer, reps who were earning good residual income waiting to retire etc lose their income from overnight. The Internet is like a double-edged sword for MLM companies, but it’s not all doom and gloom. There is a place where you can protect yourself if something happens to your business. Even if you lose your entire downline, the money keeps coming from multiple sources. There are systems and tactics that make you sleep much better at night.
