When you buy a Lotus, you don’t want to drive it around town. Sitting in traffic jams, praying that temporary lights stay green (“please don’t change!”), and avoiding potholes and speed bumps is no fun at all. No, a Lotus is designed for the open road: the wide, open, winding roads of the British countryside where the only obstacle is when you stop to admire the view.

I don’t pretend to know much about cars, but I know what I like and I like Lotus cars. They’re sexy, fast, fun to drive and you’re sure to turn heads when you drive one, and isn’t that what driving is all about? The model I particularly like is the Lotus Exige S. Ok, it’s not the easiest car to put together, but once you get the hang of it, it’s actually a very comfortable ride. There aren’t buckets of space inside the cabin, but this isn’t a car you’d take on a camping trip – this car was made to drive. The Lotus Exige S is a real joy to drive on winding roads; it has excellent cornering skills and exceptional grip. With the ability to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds, the Lotus Exige S is not for the faint of heart. It’s not quite as “cash-hungry” as you might think though, you can get about 200 miles on a tank of gas, which isn’t too bad, and you can be sure the rev-hungry Toyota engine is reliable. .

One of my favorite places to drive is the South West of England, particularly Devon and Dorset, where the roads are free of traffic and the views are simply stunning. Maybe one day I’ll drive my new Lotus Exige S in Dorset, but for now I’ll just have to stick with my trusty Ford Fiesta.
