Raising the kundalini is not arduous, but it will only happen when the initiate is ready. It starts with the intention. I advise clients from all over the world on the best way to prepare for the kundalini awakening. First, let’s define what the kundalini is. The divine energy of the kundalini life force is polarized in two ways; static and dynamic. The static form is when the kundalini is in a dormant state, coiled exactly three and a half times around the base of the spine. Here he remains until he awakens to the dynamic state of prana shakti. This dynamic state is also what scientists call “dark matter.” It is the ether of the cosmos that unites all the atoms of the universe. It may also be referred to as “Source Consciousness”.

The kundalini coil is a spiral portal at the base of the central path (sushumna-nadi) located at the root chakra. This chakra portal connects the earthly physical realm with the physical body. It also acts as a wormhole into an infinite storehouse of prana shakti energy.

When the initiate is ready, the kundalini is awakened and the prana shakti slowly and steadily rises up the spine, in a spiral motion, until it reaches the top of the head at the crown chakra. Along the way you will unblock, balance and purify the root chakra (muladhara), sacral chakra (svadhisthana), solar plexus chakra (manipura), heart chakra (anahata), throat chakra (visuddha) , the third chakra the eye chakra (ajna) and the crown chakra (sahasara).

The ultimate purpose of a kundalini awakening is to open the crown chakra, the “flower of a thousand pedals” located at the top of the head. This grants the initiate spiritual enlightenment or self-realization. It is the awareness of one’s divine nature and connection to Source (also known as the “I Am” consciousness). Unfortunately, this experience cannot be taught, you must experience it for yourself.

Yoga and tai chi are excellent exercises to stimulate the root chakra and awaken the kundalini. So is meditation and pranic breathing. The ida and pingala pathways can be accessed by closing one nostril and breathing deeply through the open nostril, then alternating with the other nostril and breathing deeply. I recommend this pranic breathing exercise seven times a day, every day. In addition, I also recommend meditation for fifteen minutes a day, every day.

And finally, diet is extremely important. I recommend a nutrient-dense, fibrous vegetable diet that is free of sugar, gluten, and starch to my clients. Drink plenty of distilled water. Other water sources may contain fluoride and/or chlorine, which is toxic and acid-forming to the body. The key is to bring the body to a slightly alkaline state. This will allow for an awakening that will be smooth and free of difficulties.

In summary, if your goal is to raise your kundalini shakti, remember that there are four important steps:

1. Breath (to cleanse the nadis).
2. Meditation (become One with the Source)
3. Exercise (to help unblock the body’s marma points)
4. Diet (physical purification)
