Morning breath can be very upsetting for your partner, but it doesn’t have to ruin your marriage. You see … there are many things couples fight over, but something as tiny as morning breath shouldn’t ruin a marriage. However, it can be one of those straws that break a camel’s back, especially if you and your spouse have been in combat for the past few weeks or months.

Bad breath can be caused by a wide variety of internal and external factors; however, neglecting the symptoms will not solve anything. It is your duty to get to the root of the problem, before it turns into something more serious like gingivitis. Do not interrupt your marriage or test your relationship when cures for the problem are known. Wake up fresh with a simple cleaning in the morning, or even a new hygiene routine in the evening, to get the most out of your personal relationships.

Some of the causes of morning breath are probably pretty obvious, but what’s more interesting is why certain actions create more undesirable morning breath. For example, during the day when the mouth is constantly in action and saliva is easily produced; the body is able to control and neutralize the odorous bacteria that cause bad breath through natural defenses. However, without saliva, dry conditions provide the perfect environment for bacteria to grow, which is what happens while you sleep.

During the night, the mouth becomes excessively dry creating the perfect conditions for morning breath. In most cases, the tongue moves towards the tonsils and blocks the flow of saliva. This creates a dry area for bacteria to grow. From here on, the dead cells remain on the tongue and the inside of the cheeks causing a very unpleasant smell in the morning.

Also, certain things you do during the day and before bed contribute to morning breath. For example, do not eat strong foods, such as garlic and onion, before going to bed. This will undoubtedly cause a problem. Also, drinking alcohol will dehydrate your mouth and help bacteria by intensifying dry conditions. And lastly, be sure to brush and floss your teeth before going to sleep, then follow the process with a natural (alcohol-free) antibacterial mouthwash. These simple steps will help you fight odor bacteria.

Remember, it is your job to control bad breath and prevent it from affecting the people you love. Your spouse may be upset, but you shouldn’t have to suffer or be a victim of your neglect. Take control of the problem, before it leads to something more serious … like divorce.
