This is party people. If music is the food of love, play! Hyd knows how to have fun and knows his music too. From lazy lounge to heart-pounding electro techno, DJs in Hyderabad’s clubs and pubs spin it all. There is something for everyone. So whether you’re a music aficionado who knows the beat per minute of your favorite song, or just a regular party animal, you won’t be disappointed.

But just to make it easier, we’ve given you information about what kind of music is being played and where; so you can choose the party destination according to the beats you want to hear. However, please remember that a club may decide to play one or more of the genres below, so this is not a restrictive list. It’s more of a guide to the popular joints in Hyd for dancing to the different kinds of music we all love.

A – Alternative…Alternative rock isn’t much fun to dance to, so the only time you can hear bands like Foo Fighters or Linkin Park play is if the venue is Worldspace. But if you’re really into it, pubs like 10 Downing Street (10 D) MAY play some alternative rock, but ONLY during the evenings!

B-Bhangra…Bhangra has gone global and is a fixture in most club DJ sets. One can skip Punjabi MC in Bollywood Nites in Bottles & Chimney (B&C), 10D, Myst and sometimes even Ahala.

B-Bollywood…Clarifies one thing. Bollywood remixes rock and we love it. So they will always be there. Almost every party will have some great Bollywood remixes to give it a good Desi flavor. The specialists are B&C and Ahala, especially on dedicated Bollywood nights.

C-Club…Club music is currently all the rage in the Hyderabad nightlife. From sexy Justin Timberlake remixes to hardcore club legends like Benny Benassi, clubs like Touch pump up revelers with club tracks. Ahala is another cool place to listen to some vibrant sounds.

D-dance…Dance and Club are pretty similar, so clubs that play the former will also play Dance. Wednesday nights at Touch, Ahala, F Bar and other places like Soul, Myst and Firangi Paani would be a good option.

E electro…B&C and Liquids have been known to play Techno from time to time. But Electro is just as popular as Dance/Club. Touch and Ahala also play Electro, but only a few electro tracks would be included, so don’t count on a full Electro night!

H hip hop…50 Cent, Kanye and other gangstas also make us jump, so DJs from B&C, Firangi Paani and Ahala will be playing a healthy dose of hip-hop for everyone.

Lounge L…Touch owns this genre. DJ Yogi will spin a cool lounge for all the party people every Saturday night, but it will be at the start of the night. Later, he infuses himself with more energy by playing mostly club music. Ahala, Liquids (especially on Friday nights) and Sixth Element will also be playing relaxing relaxing Lounge music, perfect for a chill-out session.

R – Rock… Rock can never die. So pubs like 10 Downing Street and Firangi Paani give you reason enough to drink another pint while the cool riffs of Pink Floyd, Scorpions and Guns n Roses blast through the speakers. The retro nights at 10D are especially worth seeing, if you are a true “rock star” at heart. Ahala and Touch will play remixes of rock tracks, but not straight rock as such.

there you go A comprehensive guide to what’s playing and where to help you decide which pub to head to this weekend!
