Hoop earrings are an ancient style of jewelry. Hoop earrings date back to 1475 BC. C. in Egypt. Currently, you can choose what type of hoop to add to your collection; post-style hoops, sleeper hoops, continuous hoops, and latch back hoops. Hoop earrings can be made from a variety of metals and can even include gemstones. Plus, they are available in a wide selection of sizes to fit your wardrobe; from small and demure to big and daring.

Today there is a new style of hoops on the market: inverted hoops. These earrings differ from classic hoop earrings in several ways. First, they don’t have clasps. By design, these earrings do not need a clasp to hold them.

The second difference is that they are always thin. They are generally created to be as thick as a standard earring post. Inverted hoops should be created slim due to the way they are worn. This also means that the earrings are super lightweight, almost the weight of a feather.

So how do you wear Reverse hoop earrings? It may sound a bit silly, but they are worn backwards. This is because, unlike a classic hoop, these earrings are inserted at the back of the piercing. They are then gently pushed forward until you feel the clasp on the back of the hoop touch the back of your earlobe.

So what should you look for when buying a pair of inverted earrings?

You will first want to see how thick the earrings are. An ideal thickness for inverted hoop earrings will be less than 1.0mm in diameter. If the reverse hoop earring is greater than 1.0mm in diameter, it may be too thick for the piercing hole.

If the thickness of an earring is not listed where you want to buy your earrings, then the gauge of wire used may be. You’ll want to look for a wire gauge of 19 or less. (If you are not familiar with wire gauge, you should know that increasing the gauge of a wire decreases the diameter of the wire. This means that an 18 gauge wire will be larger than a 19 gauge wire).

However, if your earring hole has been calibrated, you will need to look for earrings made with a smaller gauge of wire.

Another factor you’ll want to see is the metal your inverted hoop earrings are made of. You will want to make sure it is a metal that you are not allergic to. I would also advise avoiding plated metals, as these earrings will be on your piercing. You don’t want chunks of silver metal to come off inside the hole in your earring.

If you are looking for a pair of hoops that are a little different, or super lightweight, or if you just don’t like fiddling with a clasp, be sure to check out the inverted hoops. These may be the perfect pair of earrings for you.
