Dog clothes were first created by the military! Yes that’s how it is! Dogs working for the military were the first canines to wear clothing. They wore clothes for practical reasons and not for fashion. Military dogs mainly wore clothing for camouflage purposes. This helped them to warn enemy attacks and attacks.

The first instance of a pet dog wearing clothes dates back to the year 1833. No common man could afford to buy clothes for his pet back then, so it was a royal who dressed his canine companion in royal clothes! ! The royal in question is Princess Victoria and she had dressed her spaniel in a royal blue jacket. The dog clothing industry really began to gain momentum in the early 1800s.

Royal families had different clothes for their pets. Just like they themselves wore different clothes at different times of the day, their dogs would do the same too. There were separate dog clothes for morning, afternoon, evening and bedtime too! There were also separate costumes for going to the beach! A royal pet from that time wore nothing less than a collar made of pure gold! They also wore boots that were made of silver!
