Introduction

Getting kids to live a healthy lifestyle is something many parents struggle with.

When you start feeding your baby solid foods, you have the best intentions. I know, I can remember buying the fresh vegetables and making the homemade baby food myself.

However, this is where the fairy tale more or less ended. Slowly but surely, as more children arrived, processed foods and fast foods began to creep into my children’s diets. Before I knew it, what seemed like the perfect healthy lifestyle for our newborn turned into an unhealthy regimen for our three children.

Does all of this sound familiar? Well, I am here to tell you that there is a lot you can do about it. I’m going to share a couple of my best tips with you today in the rest of this article.

Tip 1: How to gradually change what you are feeding your children

There are two rules you have to follow here.

The first is to avoid giving your children prepared and processed food. Instead, what you need to do is go back to basics and cook at home yourself.

Second, you must manage the change process by making it fun, exciting, and rewarding. If you don’t do this, it will be virtually impossible for you to quickly change your children’s eating habits.

Let me give you an example of what I mean. Pizzas can be healthy and fun for kids if you make your own. Prep time is only ten minutes and your kids will love the fact that you get them involved in the kitchen.

Tip 2: Get your kids to exercise.

Exercising is essential to a healthier lifestyle. To persuade your children to start exercising, you will once again need to encourage them with fun activities, making them rewarding to begin with.

The best example of this in practice that I can give you is what worked well for us as a family, although I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone!

We recently purchased a Labrador retriever puppy, which we named Riley. The effect of welcoming Riley has been that all of our children are very excited about going for walks twice a day and even more so on the weekends!
