Unlike other pitched roofs, a flat roof is nearly level and is generally not as durable or durable as pitched roofs. You should also personally contact two or three of the references provided and ask about the contractor’s job performance and whether they are satisfied with the work.
• Use quality materials – This is very important because if the roofing contractor uses poor quality material, additional repairs will likely be needed earlier than normal for the roof. One sign that the contractor is using quality materials is if they offer you an extended warranty for a specified period of time. If possible, it’s best to do your own research on the materials used to build a flat roof before speaking with a contractor so you get an idea of whether they are using quality materials when they tell you what they use.
• Insurance – A contractor must be financially protected and have insurance against any potential damage. If they can’t show proof of insurance or say they don’t have insurance, find another contractor.
• Reasonable prices: What the flat roofing contractor charges for its services should be fair to the contractor and the business or owner. One way to effectively determine a fair price is to contact several different contractors and get their estimates. Compare all the estimates and see which one is the least expensive, but make sure they have a good reputation and good references that you have verified.
Do your research because if you choose the first one you talk to without checking references, you may end up having to hire another contractor to correct the mistakes the first contractor made. You can also check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are negative reports against you.
