The strategy of attacking the head and then kneeing to the nose is an effective way to overwhelm your opponent quickly. For the strategy to work well, you must take the initiative and attack your attacker quickly. Get your assailant to react to you instead of you reacting to him.

At the start of the fight, quickly close the distance between yourself and the assailant and start hitting him repeatedly in the head. If you happen to land a solid hit on his head, he’ll most likely be disoriented or knocked down, giving you plenty of time to make a quick getaway! Remember, winning a street fight isn’t about beating your assailants, it’s about getting out of harm’s way. Every time you see an opportunity to run away, do it!

If you miss the first hit to his head, don’t worry! Keep your attacks above his head and he’ll be forced to block or avoid your blows; you still hold the initiative. The real goal here is to land a solid knee to the muzzle, it will most likely end the fight if you are successful.

Head attacks are to divert his attention and force him to focus on protecting his head, leaving a decent opening in his lower body. If possible, grab the assailant’s shoulder or neck and pull him toward you. At the same time, bring your knee up towards his muzzle. To maximize power, you’ll also want to use your hips and really drive it up hard!
