There is widespread apprehension among aspiring young models and everyone is concerned about whether or not many young models are sexually harassed. Whatever the gender equality mechanisms designed by modern democratic institutions, gender inequality and the resulting inequity lurk under complex camouflage. Sexual harassment in the workplace is a ghost casting its hideous image across the spectrum, whether developing or developed. It doesn’t mean that since the modeling industry is a field of glamor and fashion, this threat is completely out of its realm. However, it is still not at a distressing level. Also, as fashion models are the center of attention at any venue or gathering, they are often under the watchful eye of security. Also, if the models themselves are negligent in taking care of themselves personally, it can pose a potential risk.
If we look at the possibilities of young models being sexually harassed, the possibility of such incidents may arise in photo shoots. Therefore, it can be taken as the main concern that any aspiring young model associates only with reputable modeling agencies. Sexual harassment itself invokes vague connotations in the legal language prevalent in different legal systems. It may include indecent behavior toward women, passing indecent or obscene comments, expressing unsolicited sexual comments, expressing sexual gestures, or displaying obscene objects or objectionable body parts. It also includes requesting sexual favors. In most modern states, indulging in such activities in the workplace will attract special criminal provisions. Therefore, if the workplace you choose is bona fide and professionally mature and reputable, the chances of any incident of sexual harassment are minimal.
The chances of young models becoming victims of sexual harassment may be slightly higher than those of members of any other type of traditional profession. Here again, the alleged increase in security risk is directly associated with the fact that young models generally have higher sex appeal and therefore may be more attractive to the opposite sex. This in itself implies a potential danger in general. Even then, it does not imply that such a danger is difficult to notice. It means that you need to ensure sufficient precautions and preparations when entering the field. It is always advisable to arrange for your own personal companions with you while you are on outside assignments. Also, as I have already pointed out, opting for a reputable and professionally established organization to work for would save a lot of the hassle.
