Naturopathy is Swasha Vritha or the prophylactic or preventative aspect. Ayurveda is the Athura Vritha or Therapy. Both are related sciences.

Daily Routines or Dinacharya, according to Ayurveda

The ideal time to get up is at 04:30 AM. This is known as Brahma Muhurtha or the Time of Brahman, the Absolute. After getting up, one should know the condition of the body. Then one must brush their teeth and go to the bathroom to defecate. One should brush their teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.

Then one should take an oil bath. Oil should be used, preferably coconut oil. This oil should be pasted all over your body and you should wait at least 30 minutes and then take a bath. Cold bath is ideal, but for those suffering from illnesses, hot water bath is good.

Oil bath gives you a good sleep. The weakness of the body will disappear. Your body will grow in strength. Your eyes will shine. “Abhyangam Achareth Nithyam” says Ayurveda (daily you should take oil bath). But those who suffer from indigestion and excess Kapha should not take Oil Baths.

Pathya – Diet Control

When taking Ayurvedic medicines, Pathya or Diet Control should be observed.

The six flavors of Ayurveda are: sweet, bitter, astringent, sour, pungent and salty. Those who suffer from hyperacidity or ulcers should not eat acidic or spicy foods. This is known as Pathya. For every illness, there are foods that should not be eaten. For people suffering from heart problems, eggs containing cholesterol, meat, beef, etc. should not be taken. This is Pathya.

Now, there is a saying in Ayurveda that for one who observes Pathya, there is no need for medicine as negative food is gradually eliminated and Spontaneous Healing takes place. Also for someone who does not observe Pathya, as the intake of medicine becomes useless, as the negative food devastates his disease. Pathya means the Path to Health. Apathy means taking in negative food that fosters disease.

Banana – Tonic of nature

Banana is full of vitamins and minerals. It contains iron, phosphorus and vitamins such as niacin and riboflavin. A large banana can provide more than 200 calories.

The fructose contained in the banana is converted into energy after ingestion. Along with protein and starch, it contains minerals such as sulfur, iron, magnesium, copper, and calcium. There is less fat content in bananas, bananas will lower the acidity in the blood. Contains vitamins C, A, B, D and E.

Along with bananas, warm milk should be taken. This is the ideal food for growing children. But the obese should not drink milk along with bananas, as bananas have Rasayana properties, their use will keep you young. You can live for months on bananas alone. Bananas can be used as a medicine for patients with liver problems and for disorders of the digestive tract. It can also be taken by those suffering from malnutrition and scurvy. Also for patients suffering from eye and dental diseases. (since it contains vitamin A and calcium).

Continence or Brahmacharya

By Continence or Brahmacharya we understand the control of the libidinal life. Both Ojas (Light) and Veerya (Virility) are based on the Seventh Fabric Element, Semen. Avoid the misuse of this great Dhathu, says Ayurveda. Too much indulgence in sex makes you lose this Element of the Seventh Tissue and this will result in weakness of the body. Body pain, headache, etc. will be the result. The loss of semen negatively affects the other Six Elements of the Tissue.

If you observe Brahmacharya (practice Continence), the result will be better memory, grasping power, physical strength, discriminating intellect, happiness of mind, increase in Ojas or effulgence in the face, etc. To have good health, you have to control sex. But since pure Brahmacharya is impossible for married men, controlled Brahmacharya or celibacy is recommended.

insomnia

Lack of sleep is due to many factors: anxiety, mental tension, excessive exercise, emotional suffering, etc. When anger and enmity are repressed, the result is insomnia. Constipation, digestive tract disorders, coffee, tea, etc. They will destroy the dream. Thoughts about insomnia will only aggravate the problem. The use of sleeping pills is not ideal. You may have to rely on such pills. And increasing the amount is asking for trouble. If alcohol is taken along with pills, there will be repercussions.

Avoid drinks like cola, tea and coffee. And eat fatty foods. Avoid fried foods. Take only a small amount of food at night. If you drink warm milk before going to sleep, if you keep your mind calm, you will fall asleep in the land of sleep. You should take food 3 hours before going to bed. It will be better if you can listen to quiet music. Reading is also a good habit that will take you to the land of sleep. You should walk at least half an hour before going to sleep. It will help digest the food taken. Meditation will give you a good sleep.

Constipation

The modern fast food culture is responsible for constipation. Anxiety, fear, mental tension – all this creates constipation. Naturopaths claim that constipation is the root cause of all illness. Some antacids also create constipation. Under certain conditions, water will be absorbed into the colon and the stool will solidify. Such hard stools are difficult to dislodge. Lack of adequate time to eat, anxiety, mental problems, etc., cause constipation. Constipation will create back pain, weight in the stomach, headache, loss of appetite, etc.

The intake of organically grown fruits and vegetables, 12 glasses of water a day, ensures peace of mind, corrects bowel movements, all this will cure constipation.

Gas problems or hyperacidity

This is a very common disease. In India, there are very few households without antacid tablets! On one hand we take a lot of antacids and on the other we eat acidic foods! Among the six flavors, sour, spicy and salty promote hyperacidity.

Fried foods, foods containing masala, very cold drinks, potatoes, bananas, all of these promote gas problems. Lack of exercise is one of the causal factors. Also working sitting down for long hours Mental tensions also favor this disease. It is not what you eat, but what eats you that is the cause of this common disease.

Mental pain, thoughts of revenge, fear – all this paves the way for this disease. There is an Emotional Center in the brain. When we have mental disorders, this Emotional Center stimulates the oxyntic cells in our stomach to secrete hydrochloric acid. A lot of gas comes out of the rectal tract, indigestion – these are all symptoms of gas problems. Naturopaths claim that constipation is the cause of this disease, no, of all diseases!

Haste, worry and curry are the main causative factors of this disease. Eating fast, overeating, masala foods, sour, spicy, salty foods, pickles, chillies, potatoes, sodas, colas, cold beer, nicoine, alcohol, very hot foods, chewing gum – these all cause hyperacidity. Priest. Avoid Apathy foods and be healthy!

Contradictory Foods

Contradictory foods are known in Ayurveda as “Samyoga Viruddha”. When contradictory foods are taken, the doshic imbalance increases and becomes the cause of many diseases. Shrimp and milk, fish and butter, sour fruits and milk are some examples of contradictory foods. They should be avoided at all costs.

Chicken and butter should not be taken simultaneously. Honey and ghee in equal amounts are also prohibited in Ayurveda.

Colon hydrotherapy

Naturopathy says that diseases are caused by the accumulation of morbid matter. Natural Hygiene says that the cause is Toxemia, or the infusion of toxins into the blood.

One of the colon cleansing methods is the Enema or Colon Hydrotherapy, I have been practicing the Enema for 18 years. In 1989, while participating in an exhibition stall in Trichur (a 41 day affair), the nearest stall was a naturopathic stall and the head naturopath told me that the best way to get rid of gas problems was to take 15 enemas soft.

I bought an enema can and have been doing this when I have a rectal blockage. This therapy is effective as we can see the rotten fecal matter coming out 10 minutes after the administration of the enema. All ancient cultures defended Hydrotherapy, since Water has tremendous medicinal properties. Not only fecal matter, but also gas, mucus, and toxins come out of the rectal tract.

fasting therapy

Fasting Therapy is one of the best therapies. The digestive system rests during fasting. “Lankhanam Paramoushadam” – Fasting is the best medicine. Water fast, fruit fast, juice fast – there are many types of fasts. Juice fasting is superior to water fasting as the body receives nutritional support.

The basic principle of Naturopathy is that Nature has healing power and that the Five Doctors are the Five Elementals: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. (Annam Brahma). Annam does not mean Food, but the Five Doctors, the Five Elements. “The Five Doctors are the best, as the Five Elements are prior to all,” declare the Upanishads. (Annam hi bhoothanam jyeshtyam, thasmad Sarvoushadam Uchyathe)

Ghee – The True Rasayana

Rasayana Therapy is Rejuvenation Therapy. What rejuvenates the body is Rasayana. Ghee is considered the true Rasayana. All Ayurvedic preparations are based on ghee, that is, almost all Rasayanas. Ghee contains vitamins AE, KD, etc. Vitamin E and vitamin A are antioxidants. Diseases are caused by excessive production of Free Radicals and these two are antidotes to Free Radicals. The famous Chyavan Prash is based on Ghee. The Rasayanas are said to confer beauty, longevity, intelligence, youth, health, etc. Ghee, taken in moderate amounts, will confer them.
