Evernote helps you organize your busy life with notes and a to-do list. It is also a great note-taking software to replace your paper notebooks when paired with the Apple Keyboard Dock.

3) Flash My Brain ($ 5.99)

Flash My Brain offers a natural interface for studying, creating, and sharing text and photo flashcards. Customizable shuffle and Leitner memorization allow you to study with your own learning style. 4) iAnnotate PDF ($ 9.99)

iAnnotate PDF Allows you to read and comment on PDF files. While it won’t replace textbooks, it comes surprisingly close. Your comments and edits are fully integrated into the PDF. What this means is that you can send the PDF to your friends and they can read your comments with any PDF reader like Acrobat, and without having to have a copy of iAnnotate. Those who don’t need to make presentations or manipulate databases don’t need to spend $ 30 to purchase the iWork suite. Apple makes Pages available for just $ 9.99 for editing essays and documents. Pages makes it easy to format your document. Style text, insert tabs, and set indents and margins with the simplified style rule. Use the media browser to add photos and videos from your Photos app. You can export your work to MAC, Microsoft Word, PDF, and other popular document formats. The pages include great Apple themes with an easy to use interface.

6) Numbers ($ 9.99)

Numbers is the equivalent of Excel in the Apple iWorks Suite. It allows you to edit and create spreadsheets on the fly. Numbers lets you create spreadsheets, formulas, charts, analyze data, and much more. Numbers for iPad is fully compatible with Microsoft Excel and Numbers ’09 for MAC.

7) Instapaper Pro ($ 4.99)

With Instapaper Pro, you can save all the articles and web pages that you find online, or through academic search portals, for later use. It is very useful since now you do not have to worry about the WIFI connection or 3G cell phone to work and study.

8) Rate My Professor is a free application that allows you to view reviews of current and future professors. It’s a great tool to have just before deciding which classes to take next term.

9) iSource MLA ($ 1.99)

iSource does all the work of creating a bibliography for you when you write your articles and research projects. iSource follows the MLA format while also including citation methods for writing books, as well as TV and movie scripts and magazines.

11) Dictation Dragon (Free)

Dragon is the world leader in transcription software. Naturally Speaking software is the standard in speech-to-text applications and is the engine behind the Dragon Diction application for iPad.
