Chihuahuas shiver or tremble when they are excited, experiencing stress, scared, insecure, or cold. Chills are characteristic of the Chihuahua breed. Smaller Chihuahuas generally have a higher metabolism and therefore use more body heat faster than larger dogs. Chills also help generate body heat, as humans do when they shiver when they cool down. Most people think that Chihuahuas tremble because they have a large amount of energy to expend. That may be true. Another reason Chihuahuas can shiver is because they are excited and / or cold.

It is important to remember to protect your Chihuahua when you take him outside. Whenever possible, as fun as it may sound, put them in a sweater or some kind of clothing when it’s cold. Keep them away from extreme temperatures and definitely out of the rain. Your Chihuahua may tremble due to stressful situations. Try to keep your home as quiet as possible and avoid slamming doors or yelling.

Another reason your Chihuahua may shiver is that he feels danger. Remember that you are a Chihuahua, although they have a brave personality and are braver than they should be with their ultra egos, in fact they weigh only around 6 pounds. After worrying and worrying that my chihuahua was shaking and wondering if he was in terrible pain, I decided to build him a dog sleeping bag. It didn’t feel right to just allow my chihuahua to shiver as he tried to crawl behind my body to ward off the chills. I created the Pooch Bag and am on a mission to spread the word to try to help the shaky Chihuahua.

Don’t let your Chihuahua not shake anymore. It is in their nature to tremble, but we can do something about it! We can buy a dog sweater or doggie bag to make them feel a little more secure in their tiny, quivering bodies.
